Who knew that it was possible for a Pokemon to be both cute and sexy at the same time?! I guess that’s just the magic of the incomparable…Dedenne.
First thing that comes to mind, aside from the peanut shape, is probably that she looks eerily similar to Pikachu, right? That may be true, but Dedenne is INFINITELY more “capable” than Pikachu. And Pikachu is a bit overrated at this point, don’t ya think? Actually, when you really look at Dedenne, she largely resembles Raichu. Yes, Raichu, remember her? The much better form of Pikachu that never seems to get any play in the anime…
Dedenne is a fairy/electric type Pokemon, which makes her super awesome because she’s currently the only Pokemon with this typing. Dedenne’s awesome typing eliminates that pesky steel weakness that plagues *most* fairy types, but still clings to the poison weakness and adds in a ground weakness. Even with those fairly commonly exploited weaknesses, Dedenne is still awesome! Know why? Cheek Pouch.
What is Cheek Pouch?
Cheek Pouch is a nifty little ability that allows its host to consume a berry once it drops below a certain amount of health. That’s not all. The effects of said berry are doubled with Cheek Pouch. Awesome right? It’s particularly useful if you use a berry that recovers a decent amount of HP. To make Cheek Pouch an even more awesome ability, Recycle is a must. If you’ve been a fan of the Pokemon series for any length of time, you’ve likely seen Recycle used by the ever annoying Snorlax. Basically what recycle does it allow the user to recoup, and later reuse, its berry. Pairing Cheeck Pouch with Recycle allows Dedenne to recover an infinite amount of HP! And no, it doesn’t really work that way for Snorlax…but it’s not as if it matters, that thing is bulky as hell!
Aside from its amazing recovery capabilities, Dedenne also learns both Eerie Impulse and Charm! Eerie Impulse which lowers the target’s special attack by 2 stages; useful when facing those poison types with their array of “sludge” moves. Charm lowers the target’s attack by 2 stages, totally obliterating any ground moves that may come along, and the ever powerful Gunk-Shot. Both of these moves lower the respective stats to a minimum of -6.
And last, but certainly not least is Super-Fang. Super-Fang is a move that has been around since Generation I, and has grown immensely in popularity since then. Super-Fang is a physical move that cuts the target’s HP in half, regardless of their defense stat. Cool, right? This is especially useful against those super tough opponents, such as the aforementioned Snorelax, or even the ever-powerful Groudon.
Now, in honor this this adorable little peanut, lets make peanut butter!
